New psychodynamic approaches to the treatment

of in-patients with endogenous psychoses

 The study is dedicated to the issues of optimization of treatment of in-patients with endogenous psychoses. The author presents the results of a complex treatment of patients using short-term combined  (group and individual) psychodynamically oriented psychotherapy developed at the Department of Restorative Therapy of the Mentally Ill at the St.Petersburg V.M.Bekhterev Psychoneurological Research Institute. The specific features of the method consist in its intensity and short term of duration; in performance by the doctor of different therapeutic roles, in focusing on the most active at the moment intrapsychic conflict.

160 patients were studied. The author compares the results of treatment obtained in three groups as follows:

I � combined psychodynamic psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy,

II � group psychodynamic psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy,

III � pharmacotherapy only.

The results of study of efficacy of the model in the treatment of patients with different nosological forms of mental diseases are presented.

The objectivization of the results obtained was carried out using the following instruments: FKBS, SBAK, SVF, Lazarus Test, Gissen Personality Test, SCZ-90-R, GAS, and the �Psychopathology assessment scale�.
